Panbiogeography--Track Analysis
Croizat: Idea that tectonic change and not dispersal might be causal mechanism
1. The distribution of a species may coincide with the distributions of other species and groups.
2. Coincident distributions indicate a “generalized track”: a general biotic distribution.
3. The best supported generalized tracks are those that have the largest number of and most biologically diverse groups of organisms.
4. Interpret generalized track in light of either dispersal or vicariance.
