Inflorescence: spikelets secondarily clustered as panicles, spikes, etc., 2 basal bracts (glumes), 1-many flowers per spikelet
Flowers: synoecious, rarely dioecious
Androecium: stamens 3(1-6), distinct, usually large
Gynoecium: Carpels 3 but apparently 2, connate, ovary superior, 1 locule, 1 basal ovule adnate to ovary wall, styles 2, distinct or united, usually “feathery”.
Disarticulation above and below the glumes.
