Part III. Short answer, definitions, and drawing

1. (4 points) Draw a Carex spikelet. Be sure to draw and indicate the perigynium and label all the parts for full credit.

  • 2. (6 points) Snack Break. List the families that are represented here by this snack of guacamole and corn chips. There are seven blanks, you need only answer six for full credit. This recipe, is taken from "Horn of the Moon Cookbook".

  • Peel and pit avocados. Mash well or puree in food processor. Add rest of ingredients to avocados along with ½ teaspoon ground cumin and ½ teaspoon salt and stir well. Serve with corn chips.

    3. (5 points) Calling Poison Control!!

    Assume you have just served these two plants, A and B, to your guests at a dinner party. Using the appropriate terminology, describe the taxonomically important vegetative features for these two plants as accurately as you can to the person at Poison Control. Your description should be as complete as possible and should include at least 5 features. Now hurry… your guests may be in BIG trouble!
