Special floral characters apetalous flowers on spikes   
Perianth highly reduced, flowers subtended by peltate (shield-shaped) bracts
Androecium 1-10 stamens, distinct		
Gynoecium  2-5 carpels, connate; superior; 2-5 stigmas 
Fruit= drupe or drupelet
